Events Blog

Welcome to my version of a king of blog. This won't be a running blog of my every day events however an update to the recent and upcoming events that I will be attended as a Lomi therapist to provide my services.

Every now and again a charity event arises where I am able to donate my massage services for free or offer massage services for a reduced cost (retreats). I thoroughly enjoy doing this as I get to travel to different locations, meet lots of lovely people and allow others to experience a Lomi massage like never before.

At any event we attend, almost every single person that is treated to a Lomi experience walks away with a relaxed 'wow' on their faces with often the comment being "that was the most beautiful massage I've ever had". It truly puts a smile on my own face as that is the ultimate achievement of what I do.

So if you know of anyone putting together a charity event or corporate event and would like to invite a Lomi massage therapist, I would love to hear from you. Having massage services at group events is a very beneficial way for attendees to get the most out of the event. Once a person is relaxed, they can absorb the information and intent of the event they are attending on a deeper and more peaceful level.

For some events I haven't had a chance to take photos mainly because as soon as you bring your massage table into a room (and mine happens to be a bright pink one that attracts lots of attention) people are eyeing you off to get their chance on the table sometimes eagerly waiting while I dress the table. Funnily enough I have now realised that as a massage therapist, you are put to work first thing at an event and are the last to leave, with little time for anything else.

Yoga Retreat by Peace Yoga at Tallow Beach
Byron Bay, September 2011

A Lomi Lomi colleague, Amanda Scott has been massaging at Peace Yoga retreats for a few years now however as the retreat groups expand year by year it is too much work for one person. This year I went along to help Amanda out and it was a great experience and something that I could certainly do more of. This years retreat was at the Tallow Beach houses holiday park, Suffolk Park Byron Bay.

We massaged in this cute stand alone balinese hut. With the bamboo walls and timber floor and the rolling waves of the beach only meters away, having a few candles lit and music music playing, it was truly an exotic and tranquil holiday experience for everyone on the massage table. Going to work in a hut to massage others was like being on holiday but working at the same time. Awesome.

For some attendees, having their massage prior to the retreat beginning was the best thing they could have done - they could then be completely relaxed having dissipated the weeks stresses and transformed their mind and body into a place of receiving the energy and healing benefits of the whole retreat weekend.

National Council of Women (NCWA) Pamper Day for Flood Victims
Ipswich, August 2011

This was a wonderful day put together by various groups of ladies from Stradbroke Island to Ipswich. This particular event was for the purpose of giving a day back to those who suffered the January 2011 floods and to say 'we still care'. So many of the women who attended hadn't had time off from putting their lives back together so this was their day.

Their stories were varied and sad yet they smiled from the heart and received the pleasure of time out just for them. All helpers such as hairdressers, nail technicians, massage therapists, caterers, tea ladies and more all donated their time to give to others. Its was a lovely day held in a church hall out at Ipswich.

Only having 3 massage therapists and 70 registered attendees for the day and only 5 hours to massage, we literally had ladies lining up waiting for their chance to get on a massage table. Thankfully one of the day's coordinators volunteered to be our receptionist and keep an eye on our 'waiting clients' to ensure no-one missed out. It gives you a good feeling to know that people are eagerly awaiting to experience your service. It was truly an honour to be able to give even only 15 minutes massage to as many ladies as possible - some of which had never had a massage before.

Bald & Beautiful Rotary charity event for Cancer patients
Southport Sharks Clubhouse, Gold Coast, May 2011

A wonderful charity event put together by the Gold Coast Rotary branch. Many services were donated to this event such as hairdressers, beautician, nail technicians, dancers, musicians and more. A full day of providing pampering services to local cancer suffers and their immediate carers. Until you have been around those who have gone through cancer, you really can only assume what its like.

It was a fun day appreciated by all attendees as there was various live entertainment, full catered luncheon and lots of pampering to be had.

If you know of a charity event or corporate event
and would like to invite a Lomi massage therapist,
I would love to hear from you.
